Background
Currently,
liver transplantation is the first line treatment for patients with liver terminal disease,
both acute and chronic.
However,
postoperative complications may limit the success of the intervention,
because of their mortality and morbidity.
There are different types of complications of liver transplantation.
In the current work,
biliary complications will be explained.
They occur on about 25% of liver transplants.
Early diagnosis is very important because it directly conditions the subsequent evolution of the patient.
Most complications develop in the first three months after transplantation.
But there are some complications than can appear months or years later,
like some strictures,
so it is important to take them into consideration.
The most used imaging technique is ultrasound examination.
However,
usually computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging are also employed.
In these entities,
interventional techniques take a particular interest,
as they allow establish diagnosis and perform treatment at the same time.
