Learning objectives
To acquire the knowledge to adjust technical parameters individualized in every patient,
according to breast characteristics.
To learn to set the technical parameters in every breast lesion and to use the resources needed for best diagnostic accuracy.
Background
The technical advances in the field have made breast sonography an essential component of the breast imaging evaluation.
For a high quality diagnosis,
a good ultrasound technique is required.
It is extremely important consider that technology parameters in breast ultrasound changes according to patient,
location,
indication and type of lesion.
We will show some tips using the last advances,
to adapt the technology to the clinical peculiarities.
Findings and procedure details
Ultrasound (US) is operator dependent,
breast ultrasound even more so.
Careful attention to scanning technique as well as knowledge of different technical options available are imperative for an optimized and accurate breast US examination.
US must be interactive,
dynamic modality and individualized technique.
Positioning.
First of all,
correct patient position is essential,
with the patient´s arm relaxed and flexed behind the head.
Supine position is selected to study medial or inferior lesions.
To study superior lesions the patient is in supine or sitting and opposite...
Conclusion
It is extremely important to individualize and adjust the technical parameters in breast ultrasound in every patient and every lesion,
to obtain higher accuracy diagnostic.
