Methods and materials
A total of 14 cases were studied over a period of 5 years from 2010 to 2018.
They were children in the adolescent or pre adolescent age group,
from 9 to 12 years of age who presented with complaints of hip pain and limp.
All these children were imaged with 1.5T MRI
The MR sequences protocol used were,
coronal fat suppressed fast spin-echo T2 weighted sequence (TR /TE ,3300 ms/ 31 ms: echo-train length or turbo factor,
8; matrix 320 x 320; slice thickness,
3mm; slice gap,
0.7mm),
a coronal T1 weighted sequence ( TR /TE ; 697 ms /17 ms; echo-train length or turbo factor,
2 ;matrix, 512 x 512; slice thickness,
3 mm; slice gap 0.7 mm),
coronal T2* GRE image and a coronal fat suppressed T1 weighted sequence after IV injection of a gadolinium based contrast agent (0.2 ml/kg).
No periarticular soft tissue involvement was noted.
X rays were taken for all the patients and CT scans were taken only for the advanced cases.
