Conclusion
The excellent results of the Department of Senology of Caserta LHA District 12 were obtained through the so-called "small group strategy". To improve the compliance of the population, we involved micro- and macro-realities (General Practitioners, municipalities, communities, associations, parishes, cultural mediators) and provided awareness campaigns (#mivogliobene, #aslintour) in over 40 municipalities in the province of Caserta, through the use of mobile facilities for free visits and booking of first and/or second level exams.
Although the overall adherence rate is still lower than the desirable average 40% for the first year and 60% at the end of each round, an increase over time has been observed.
The overall adherence rate recorded at our Department (33.8%) with the best rate gained in 2018 (46.7% in women aged 50-69 and 70.1% in women aged 45-49), confirms the effectiveness of the DCTP.
The implementation of the Breast Surgery Unit and the Psycho-Oncology pathway, in association with awareness campaigns, represented and will be representing a further boost to the growth of the program.
