Conclusion and recommendations
The exceptionally positive feedback from both physicians and industry representatives confirmed that the ultimate objective of raising awareness of radiation hazards to patients and workers can be achieved,
but that efforts and international cooperation need to be simultaneously upheld.
The engaging design of the Pavilion was perceived as a key factor in drawing attention to the Pavilion and ultimately raising awareness of radiation hazards.
In the coming months,
the CIRSE Radiation Protection Subcommittee will focus on addressing Burning issues in radiation protection: critical dose levels and substantial radiation dose, aiming to once more provide practical advice and transferable knowledge to CIRSE congress delegates at the Annual Congress 2019.
This topic will also provide important insights into the transposition process and practical impact of the Basic Safety Standards Directive,
a hot topic for all medical professionals working under ionising radiation.
In parallel,
the Subcommittee is putting the issue of unintended and accidental exposures,
critical dose levels and substantial radiation dosage into the focus of a whitepaper,
which shall be drafted in collaboration with other medical societies in 2019.
