La RM cada vez presenta mayor aceptación como técnica de referencia para la valoración de los pacientes con EC, detectando adecuadamente la presencia de actividad de la enfermedad,
e identificando correctamente las complicaciones asociadas a esta entidad,
tanto fistulizante como estenosante.
En ocasiones la superposición de hallazgos (fibrosis e inflamación) puede complicar su interpretación,
sin embargo,
es importante recordar que el manejo terapeútico de estos pacientes depende en gran medida de estos hallazgos.
La correlación de la anatomía patológica con la RM en pacientes con EC permite una mejor comprensión e interpretación de los hallazgos de la RM,
lo cual permite transmitir información fundamental para el adecuado manejo clínico del paciente.
