Conclusion
Following concussions may be drawn:IVUS technique supplemented by the image processing and pressure measurements can be applied to determine mechanical properties of the vessel wall in vitro. The non-linear shapes of the stress-strain curves are in good agreement with the previously reported data. All parameters ( Einc, compliance, strain-stress ) commonly used for the description of the arterial wall elasticity can be measured. The advanced interpretation, needs, however, further studies. The investigations based on finite element models are in progress in our laboratory. The results confirm that IVUS technique offers promise for the determination of the arterial wall in vivo. The collected results show that the measurements of the arterial geometry will be simple and fast.
