Aims and objectives
Introtuction: Creeping fat is a characteristic imaging findings in Crohn’s disease.
In previous literature,
visceral fat(VF)was used to reflect fat hyperplasia objectively,
the ratio of visceral fat to subcutaneous fat(SF) is related to the degree of inflammation of CD,
intestinal fat may be an important index of intestinal inflammation in patients with CD.
However,
the content and distribution of body fat in Europeans and Americans are different from those in Asians.
Moreover,
the VF in previous literature included intra-peritoneal fat(IPF) and retro-peritoneal fat(RPF),
IPF may...
Methods and materials
Materials and Methods:67 patients who were examined by CTand diagnosed as CDhave been collected, among which 39 cases have consistent CT parameters before and after drug treatment. All patients’ clinical datas wererecorded,
includingage,
gender,
height,
weight,
hs-CRP(high sensitivity C Reactive Protein),
ESR(Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate),
HBI and CDAI in patients with twice examinations.Radiologistselected VF(Visceral Fat),
SF(Subcutaneous Fat) and IPF(Intraperitoneal Fat) inlevel ofL3,
L4 and L5,
adopted the average and calculated the figures of VF/SF,
IPF/SF and IPF/VF.To compare the differences ofclinical datasand fat parameters inevaluating activity andefficacyin crohn’s...
Results
Results: The ESR、IPF、IPF/SF and IPF/VF were correlated with HBI(P<0.05).There were significantdifferences in ESR,IPF,IPF/SF and IPF/VF between active and inactive CD patients(P<0.05).
The IPF/VF was the best index to predict active CD,
when the cutoff was 0.52,
the sensitivity,
specificity,
positive and negative predictive value were 93%,
73%,
95%,
67%,
respectively.39 patients who had received treatment,31 cases had a better condition,8 cases had no improved condition.
The SF was the best index to predict the efficacy.
The sensitivity,
specificity,
positive and negative predictive value were 97%,75%,94%,86%,respectively.
Conclusion
Conclusions:Quantitative fat parameters can be used as a clinical objective indicator in predicting activity andcurative effect of crohn's disease.
